Fibroymyalgia Dx vs. Lyme Dx for Disability

Hi,

New here. Diagnosed with FM in 2008 and Lyme in 2012 (probably had it for 3 decades or more). I suspect that I do not really have FM or that my FM is a symptom of Lyme and misdiagnosed.

I'm just wondering, if I get to the point in which I cannot work anymore, which Dx would I have a better chance getting disability? I know both are hard to get but it seems that chronic Lyme is doubted more than FM even though there are definitive blood tests for Lyme. Very strange and disturbing!

Although Lyme is making progress as being a condition for which disability will be awarded - some have even gotten it based on their Lyme diagnosis they claim - most don't recognize it as such. Here are some resources should you need them to help get disability:

Some states award a temporary disability, so be sure to check into that as well.

I was just told by a Lymie going through the SSDI thing right now, that according to her lawyer, Lyme either already has or is in the process of being added to the mix of diagnosis'.

When I signed up for SSDI, I listed all of my symptoms using the proper diagnosis; encephalopathy, neuroborreliosis, peripheral neuropathy, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, etc, etc. List them ALL out. The more mentally impaired you appear, the greater the chance of being accepted the first time.

From what I understand, it isn't just about the diagnosis, but about the symptoms and the impairments to activities of daily living and work activities. So make a list of symptoms and how these symptoms impair your ability to function at work and at home.
