I hope that it's okay for me to post the name of a specific grocery store on here.

For those of you that have an ALDIs near you, you probably know that it's much less expensive than other grocery stores. Recently, at ours, they started carrying a line called "Simply Nature". It includes gluten free, all natural, and organic products. For example, they had organic frozen blueberries (USDA organic) for very cheap (sorry I can't remember the exact cost) and I got brown rice crisps that are flavorful (has veggies powders). Those are examples of the products.

I just wanted to share that info. because groceries can be so incredibly expensive and it's impossible for many of us to buy all organic and go completely gluten free due to the cost. This is going to be very helpful for me. For those of you that haven't shopped there, you take your own bags or they do have bags you can purchase. You need a quarter for the grocery cart. You get it back when you return the cart. Sounds weird, but it's how they keep costs down by not having to pay someone to collect carts. You do have to bag your own groceries. This can be difficult for me, so I don't shop there on really bad days. Also, you need to pay w/ either cash or a debit card, they don't take charge cards. Yet another way that they save $.

Just want to add that I live in a very nice, suburban area and so my ALDIs is nice. I have heard the some of them in urban areas can be pretty run down, but I do think that they try to maintain them.

I also go to ALDI's and I get all my fruits and vegetables there for probably 1/4 of the price of any other grocery store in the area. They don't carry gluten free at mine with the rare exception of an overstocked brand name item. Their deals on Lifeway Kefir and staples like oatmeal, nuts, eggs, almond milk, brown rice, etc. are fantastic. Most of their products are their brand/generic.

I was skeptical of shopping there at first because it does have a "reputation" in my area, but I found it as clean and well-kept as other supermarkets in the area. The savings are absolutely worth it.

They just started selling the "simply nature" line about a week ago in our store. Hopefully they'll stat it in yours soon also!
Yes, I get most of my produce there also. Their produce is good and is a lot cheaper. I only buy produce from the USA (at any store). Some countries, such as South America, do not have the same regulations on pesticide use that we do in the US.

opugirl, definitely try it if you need to cut down on expenses. As a price comparison-a very full cart at AlDIs filled w/ fresh veggies, fruits, etc. is around $110-$120 for us. Compared w/ about $300 at the other grocery store we go to. Everything is generic brand, but most things taste good. They now have grade A maple syrup which I get for the kids pancakes for $3.99 compared to $8.99 at the other grocery store. And they have a lot of items that I wouldn't expect-such as yogurt tubes, goat cheese, whole grain bread thins, etc. It's definitely helpful for my family right now-especially w/ the medical bills!

I love Aldi's!   Especially that I live in a very rural area.  Can't beat the price for fresh broccoli, lemons, mushrooms, and other veggies besides some of their other products!

Lots of their products say "Made in Germany" because this is a German-based company (my best friend will only buy her chocolate at Aldi's). 

Did you know that Aldi's owns Trader Joes?  Yep!

Yes, it's fine to post about where to find groceries! I loooove ALDI's, although ours is about 1 hr and 20 minutes from us, so I only rarely go - but they have the most awesome shopping bags!!! smilewinkgrin Giggle! I use them for everything!!

I love my ALDIs too!! I have one about 5 minutes from me so I am super lucky. I get all my fruits and veggies there and I am doing alot of juicing so the price can't be beat and all the snack stuff for the kids is great. In fact, we just had one of their fresh cheese pizzas for dinner!! I know not gluten free- but it was 4.99 and I usually don't eat them although they are very good!

Well to be honest, my bags are rather old! They were bought back in '06! smhair so they are about 7 years old and they are still holding up better than any of the others that I have bought!

So mine are some of the first that ALDI's put out adn are a cream color with straps that go all the way around the bag to help hold some of the weight.

I love aldi's too, I am a coffee drinker, I am not paying 10.99 for a can of coffee. Now my husband and I prefer Aldi's coffee. Also the milk is 1.88 a gallon, and I have a 9 year old who loves milk.

They have big bags of frozen fruit, that I love also, oh and the water. The have a great brand of water for 2.29 a case, can't beat that.

the bad thing about Aldi is you have to know when they get their fresh produce at least at my store you do, if not, most of the stuff goes rotten in just a day or two...I had bought a bag of onions that looked ok, but 2 days later they were all rotten.

Star-yes,I've noticed that with their onions and bananas. I don't buy their onions anymore. I do get the bananas because my family finishes them off in a day or 2. I haven't noticed that w/ any of the other produce though.

Hmmm, perhaps because I squeeze the onions (yes, I really do!) that's why I never had a problem with them.  Nothing wrong with squeezing those onions!  

I guess you can call me a Squeezer!!

LOL Tickled!  Well, I must admit that sometimes I do squeeze the avocados because I don't want them too ripe, prefer them on the hard side (then I put them in a brown paper bag to soften)...

I blame Lyme 100% for making me gluten intolerant. Now I have full blown Celiac Disease. My husband shops for my gluten free foods at 'Sprouts'. They have a lot of gluten free foods, good prices and run sells. Yesterday he went and stocked up since right now they are offering 25% off Gluten free foods. He also racked up on other bargains like the beautiful sweet red bell peppers that were 3 for $1.00.
