Change in plan from LLMD and questions about Babesia and Ehrlichiosis

I had contacted my LLMD because the last month or so I've been really sick and I'm not seeing any improvement right now. She is having me stop all abx. for 5 days to see how I feel. If I feel better, than we know I'm reacting to one of the abx. and she wants me to very slowly start back up again to see which one is bothering me. If I feel the same, she says that it is probably from another co-infection, maybe babesia. She said that the crawling sensation is a sign of babesia. I also have had a couple of night sweats again. I hadn't had any for many months, but had them 2 night last week. I'm happy w/ the plan and hope that it helps my LLMD to figure out what changes are necessary in my treatment plan.

For those of you w/ babesia, what abx. are most commonly used?

Also, I have little red, pin-size dots that have slowly begin popping up on my skin in various locations. My LLMD noticed them when she examined me (I hadn't really noticed or thought much of them) and she said that Bart causes them. However, I read that Ehrlichiosis causes them. Has anyone been diagnosed and treated for Ehrlichiosis? I read that Doxy is typically used. I'm currently on Mino. Anyone know if Mino. would work for it?

Hey! The bumps were popping up before starting treatment. No, not itchy or rash-like at all. They are like very small hemangiomas.

OK, that's good to know about the Mepron.

I'm on Rifampin, so that's good that it would get to Ehrlichia if I have it. I haven't had any problems w/ the Rifampin. I'm on it for Bartonella.

I was on Flagyl for 3 months, my previous LLMD kept me on it. My current LLMD took me off of it. She wants me to use Grapefruit seed extract for a while as a cysts buster and the said we may "revisit" Flagyl later.

Overall, I'm just not improving though. I'm 4 1/2 months into treatment. It seems like my LLMD expects that I should have seen some progress by now. That's why she wants me to go 5 days w/o abx. to see what happens.

Hey Trav hope you are doing well. Mystery, yes the mino should also work for Ehrlichiosis as well as the doxy since

they are in the same class. I've been diagnosed with Anaplasmosis which I'm sure you know is very similar to

Ehrlichiosis and was treated with 4 weeks of doxy. It's tough to tell if that was enough to kill it as I've moved on

to other symptoms and I've yet to test through IGenex to see if I have Lyme though I suspect I may due to the

skin tingling and burning I'm currently experiencing. Lately, I've been getting tiny red dots popping up but, unlike

yours, mine itch and then after scratching them they tend to scab. I'm not thinking they are due to a tick-borne

disease as I've had this occur for maybe a dozen years and my symptoms all started after a bite that occurred

summer of 2011. It's interesting though that I pulled a tick out of my arm about 20 years ago and my knee

swelled up and had a fever about a week or two after yet no real symptoms until after my second bite in 2011.

Good luck with treatment. Eventually, I'll probably seek another LLMD instead of putting it off which is easy to do

when your symptoms are mild like mine are.
