Our Primary Care Dr. Fired us!!!

I amso sorry you were treated like this. It's wrong -wrong. I can empathize to a certain extent. 3 years ago (before we even suspected Lyme) I was going from specialist to specialist and ended up seeing a "top notch" GI doc. He did my colonoscopy and endoscopy and told me I had erosion and to take a prescription for acid reflux (like prevacid). He said the acid reflux meant I was producing too much stomach acid. I was in such horrific stomach and back pain that I took it and immediately got much worse. The pain was unbearable. I called and got his nurse who said "just give it a bit more time." So, I gave it another day, called back and said I was still terrible and could I speak to the dr. She said that that was not possible and that she would check with him to see what he said. She called me back (the next day!) and said that the dr said that it wasn't possible for it be worse and that I should give it more time. I told her I didn't think I could stand the pain any longer. She said, "the best we can do is offer you an appointment in FOUR WEEKS! In the meantime, go to ER if it's that bad." I stopped taking the meds and called back the next day and left a message to I stopped taking the meds and the pain was a bit better and could they call me in something else. I heard nothing for 2 days and then she called me back and said, "You are calling too many times in one week. If patients call more than once it means they need to go to ER. We can't take every patient calling us 3 times a week." !!!!!!!

And 2 days later I get a certified letter from the dr saying he is no longer able to be my dr because he "can't meet my needs." I asked for copies of my file and in my file he noted "patient needs psychological help to deal with issues unrelated to her diagnosis of acid reflux.

Now here's the real icing on the cake .... a year later, I see an ND who diagnoses me with LOW ACID(which can cause acid reflux, erosion, etc)!!!!! The ND said, "no wonder you were in such pain ... the medicine for high acid (what the GI prescribed) was the OPPOSITE of what you needed and would make the stomach pain MUCH WORSE.

What can be said? UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!

So, I truly feel for you and have to believe you are better off without her and you will find a kind, caring doctor who will support you in your healing journey. I am so sorry this happened to you. Kathleent

The funny thing is the Naturopath isn't close to being a dr.  He might know alot about the herbs and he does the darkfield microscopic but come on......

Put a bunch of infected ticks in her car.

My doctor of 8 years did the same thing, no letter. She called me at home on her day off to tell me , she could treat me for a cold, but when it came to Lyme she couldn't lose her practice. I felt backed up into a wall, not sure what to do. I saw one LLMD, not sure he is right for me, I don't like that fact that he pushed most of his own meds, so I may see another one as soon as I can.

I also had one doctor write up that I was crazy, never even looked at me. I walk on a cane and didn't even see me out of the hospital bed.

We all understand what you are going through , we need help , and I don't know what else to say , but I am sorry.

I try to always see things as purposeful coincidence. Like my best friend. Her son goes to the school in Sandy Hook Connecticut. He was out of school for 2 weeks because of Lyme and he wasn't in that day when the shooting happened. I never thought of Lyme as being a saving grace. But in this case it was.

Try to look at your doctor as "releasing" you. All too often, so many PCP's just don't know enough about Lyme Disease and are scared to treat it. Maybe this happened because you needed someone better to treat you. FInd yourself a good LLMD. I am not sure how severe your lyme is, but it needs to be tended to correctly, regardless of the stage.

A good LLMD will help you the way you need. And we are always here for support. Good luck to you!
