Hello all. I am new to this forum, but not new to Lyme or its myriad of life-debilitating symptoms.
Stats:
-23 yr. old female
-was diagnosed in 2006 (age sixteen) but no bulls-eye present
-treated for three mos with doxy, just made it far worse.
-Have been taking alternative routes since. Just visited the Sophia Health Institute and was not too impressed but my mother, an osteopath also diagnosed with Lyme, sings their praises so I'm going to give it another shot. I'm currently on their protocol, it's pretty extensive.
Here's my question: does anyone experience horrible symptoms after ingesting gluten or yeast that feel kind of like shock, or maybe a heart attack? I chelated over the summer and was able to eat wheat (not a smart idea, but I was excited to feel like a "normal" human being again) but in the fall my first negative reaction to wheat terrified me so much I called an ambulance. My legs locked up and I couldn't walk, I couldn't get a breath of air, there was tingling in my face and extremities, my abdomen had severe pain and my resting heart rate was 130 BPM accompanied by chest pain. I couldn't see, it was like there was television static over my vision, and it got way worse when I lied down but I couldn't stand, either. There was also uncontrollable shaking and I felt freezing, so bad that even under a bunch of heated blankets at the hospital I shook violently. At the hospital they could barely spell "Lyme Disease" and my EKG and chest x-ray came back normal. They treated me like a junkie and discharged me 3 hours later. The symptoms seemed to subside and after that I was just very tired.
I know it's gluten because I have tried to cut it out but accidentally ingested some last week when I got nachos in an emergency at the bowling alley and realized afterward that they thicken their cheese with flour, and I had a horrible reaction again. Same with french fries that I didn't realize had gluten in the ingredients (I have to be more careful).
I've had a sinus infection for a few days and haven't been able to eat anything. Today, I ate a Miso Cup thinking it would be gentle on my system. Was I wrong! It has yeast in the ingredients, which made my entire body wig out. Again, felt like I was having a heart attack. Even pain in my left arm, but I didn't want to go to the hospital again for fear of being treated so unreasonably. My face, arms and legs were prickly and numb and I felt like something was sitting on my chest.
I hope I've included enough info, it's difficult for me to process everything. Does anyone else have any symptoms like this? Any information would be helpful.
Thanks
