Anyone have Experience with antibiotic therapy via Suppositories instead of oral?

I have had a very hard time tolerating the two antibiotics that actually make a huge positive impact on my debilitating Lyme symptoms. I learned today that I can have suppositories made for doxycyclline. Has anyone out there tried this or any other suppository antibiotic? I know it's not a pleasant way to take medicine but it is more commonly given this way in many other countries to protect the stomach and IV drugs while they were recommended for me are totally unaffordable as I do not have insurance coverage. If anyone has info on this please tell me what you know as I consider trying this option. I am miserable and just want my life and spirit back the way I used to be...full of energy, and feeling functional, productive and successful. I am generally a positive happy person (hence the name) so this is really challenging me this week. Still grateful however as I know it could be worse. Thanks for any input. I find this website very informative and interesting and I am learning a lot from others experiences. Thank you.

Oh my gosh, Happyhelene!! I'm so sorry to hear this! I know all about bowel spasms - I've lived with those for most of my life. I'm so so sorry you had to find out about them too.

I had actually never heard of this before, now I may know why! Most of the time when people are trying to avoid oral therapy for some reason, it's usually IV's that you hear about. I had no clue if suppositories were even possible.

It's still good information to have! No recommending this route!

I cant take doxy either, severe vomiting and stomach pain.
