Hi all,

Ordered Dr. J's at home protocol, being delivered today. Have not yet been tested but sick for 10 yrs FMS/CFS. All symptoms point to Lyme. Been to 4 PCPs in past year, none of whom will even discuss Lyme. Found a local infectious disease doctor who is on my insurance plan. Called his office yesterday and was told that he treats Lyme. Don't yet know if he's LL. As I prefer to not be on abx, if at all possible, I don't need him to treat me. I just need him to sign off on my Igenex tests which I also ordered this week and help me understand the results.

Now my question is to those of you who are chronic, as there is no insurance code for chronic Lyme, what do you do about insurance billing? My insurance of course is not going to pay for my blood work with Igenex, but I want them to at least pay for office visits.

Any thoughts?

The LLMD I saw put down chronic fatigue, and fibo, but the insurance would not pay for it, and I have BCBS. I had to pay out of pocket. Now I did find a natural medicine doctor, that the insurance did pay for the visits only, I just had to pay a co-payment.

So I guess it depends on the insurance company and the doctor.

I am not sure what he is telling the insurance company, but I bet its chronic fatigue syndrome, or fibromyalgia, those are the two they seem to use on me. I know if we put down Lyme we get turned down or ignored.

You're probably right. There is no code for chronic lyme, I guess there is no code for lyme at all.

Awaiting anyone else's input on this.

I have 'good' health insurance and i have to pay for everything out of pocket.

There is a code for acute Lyme, but not chronic Lyme.

Yeah it makes u kind of wonder why have insurance? It is ridiculous that the insurance company will pay for physical therapy (which is a side effect of lyme) but not pay for the doc visit to get the abxs to cure the lyme! Won't the insurance company save thousands of dollars if they just cure the disease! It's a no brainer!
