I started Ceftin and have been herxing the past few days. Do any of you notice your symptoms coming and going rapidly sometimes?

In the past 3 hrs, I have experienced pain, achiness, tired, anxious, angry, depressed, hyper, dizziness, itching all over and this feeling that I to crawl out of my skin.

Oh the joys of Lyme.

Time to get into the sauna and help my body detox!

lol aww. I wish! I haven't had any herxes with ceftin that I'm aware of - I started on it the 8th at 500 mgs a day and then on the 12th (~8 days ago) I upped to 1000 mgs/day. I felt a little funny when i started it but not much else. what dose are you on and when did you start the ceftin?

Ceftin is active in the CFS and brain so it would make sense to have anxious/angry feelings which happens when you kill things in the brain I've been told.

The only thing I've noticed is a more "out of it" feeling, dizziness, a bit of lethargy blech feeling. And of course my heart issues. Joys indeed.

That's what I was wondering, since it affects the CFS it would make sense to have more "emotional" feelings.

My instructions say to take 1 tablet every 12 hrs for 1 week (500mg), then increase to 2 tablets every 12 hrs. Yikes!! That is 2,000 mg to start next week. Does that seem like too much? I hope I can handle it.

I am experiencing the same "out of it feeling." I just feel overall weird, or off. I am noticing that I am jumping from one thing to the next also, almost like an OCD behavior. My mind is racing....

Thanks for your response! Here's to healing. I believe your heart issues will resolve with further treatment. When I was at my sickest, I had a very high resting pulse rate and heart palps. It has gotten better. I know how scary it can be. Hang in there :-)

Whoa! I think the standard is 2,000 mgs and I was starting off slow. Ceftin is the first antibiotic I've used since my self-prescribed doxy. And yes, I feel very off. Like mentally, somebody said hmmm. lets turn your emotions off and give you a drug that will make you agree with everything b/c it is easier than formulating sentences. It isn't quite as intense as 'brain fog' which is like completely cut off but very much 'cloudy'

Thanks. I hope the heart stuff stops too! And hey, here is to feeling like a drug addict going through withdrawal! lol in case you ever meet someone in rehab you can honestly tell them you know exactly what they are going through!

Wow I dont have those reactions at all. I've been on ceftin for about a week (1000 mg per day). I have experienced nothing. I'm starting to worry. It just seems to aggravate my Bart and Babs symptoms more. I think a call to my doc is needed. It is so stressful trying to find the right antibotic!

One thing that I can definitely say that I have learned from this illness is that anything can happen. Every person reacts to the medications differently, and every person has his/her own unique symptoms from the disease and herxheimers.

Of course everything that I say is only based on my observations of what other people have said. I have not had lyme or coinfections.
