Anyone working at a job that isn't supportive?

I'm sorry to hear about that response at work. I didn't expect a supportive response from my boss and need my job for my insurance so never told work I was sick. However I work in an a satellite office so my boss didn't seem me tossing down handfuls of meds or the days I had to lay down on my office floor. There is also no one to fill in for my job. Either I do it or it doesn't get done.

I agree the work aspect is very frustrating. I can't tell you how many days I wished I could have taken a couple months leave or ramped back my hours to half-time. After 15 months of treatment I am feeling much better and I hope that with your treatment you feel better as well and the issue becomes a moot point. Hang in there and try to concentrate on getting well.

I wanted to tell you my experience at work. I had only been at the company around 8 months, I was a great worker never late, came in on weekends then I got sick. My young boss , who did not understand the disease told me I was unrealiable because I was sick a lot. Now mind you I didn't call in a lot but I would get sick at work, and have to hide in the bathroom.

I asked about Short term disability, they said I wasn't covered, I called the insurance company , they said I may be. The day I applied for short term disability , my company sent me a email saying I was terminated. So filed unemployment, they fought me for two months. It was just in my luck I saved all the emails and printed them out. I finally won the unemployment.

So since March I have been on unemployment, I know I may have to apply for disability, I just don't want to screw up the unemployment, because it can takes years to get the disability.

Anyway last week I got a email from my employer saying I owed them 1000.00 because they didn't cancel my insurance. I told them to take it out of the short term disability money they owed me.

None of my Lyme treatment has been covered through insurance, I have had to pay for everything out of pocket. These company's are crazy.

They also said If I was to get well, they would like to talk to me about rehiring me.

Crazy.

I also went through many months of dealing with short term disabilty with my former company. The hoops that they made me jump through were unbelievable. I had worked there for 9 years, and as I got sicker and sicker more months went by, I never knew how I was going to go back.

When I finally got in to see my LLMD, she declared me as disabled. But they wanted records and copies of all my bloodtests, all the Drs notes in my medical files, it was unreal. It was very stressful to have to deal with that on top of being so ill and fighting for my life.

At the end of January they had layoffs. They let me go as I had been disabled for

7 months. I did get a good severance. However, I lost a good job and my career.

It's been very hard.

I try to see the positive in it though, it was very stressful there. I can now be at home with my son and focus on getting well.
