More correctly it was in a platelet transfusion. So now we have to watch for Babesia
and
Ehrlichia in our blood supply!! Lovely, just lovely!

Wonderful. I will use this in my presentation on Thursday...jeez 200 people I'm nervous! Do you have any journals online that show that babesia can be transmitted via the same way.

Frankly, I am surprised that this is only being announced now. Our government and most of academia has been in denial about
these illnesses to date. It is only natural that the Red Cross would follow suit.
Having said that, it is good that finally an acknowledgement is made that at least some of these things are in our blood! its a start.

Don- I don't doubt that all of the tick-borne infections are in our blood supply, I was just surprised that it was confirmed and that they 'let the cat out of the bag"!
