Learning about Lyme - seeking a Lyme Literate Doctor in Southeast Michigan

Dear Forum Members,

I am new to this forum and really just starting to consider Lyme Disease. My husband has been sick and on disability for 6 years, diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I wonder if it could be Lyme Disease. In the past two years, I have also had health problems for the first time in my life (I am 60 years old and always healthy as a horse!). My symptoms are muscle and joint pain, sometimes debilitating and severe GI symptoms so that now I follow the FODMAPS diet but still have trouble with nausea, bloating etc. For both my husband and I, our symptoms seem to go through better and worse phases, sometimes with flu like symptoms, all of which seem suspiciously like an infection.

I know many of you have suffered much more with lyme disease, and I am so sorry for that. I would really appreciate your wisdom about how to learn about this and how to find a doctor. We live in Southeast Michigan.

Thank you Bluebyyou. I did read the New to Lyme post which has lots of good information. There are so many possible lyme symptoms and the testing seems so complicated, it is all pretty confusing to me at this early stage of understanding.
