Hello everyone!
Sorry for the long post. But, I have a lot of information, some questions, and just plain excitement to know that I am on my next stage of healing!!
Great news! I saw an LLND for the first time yesterday and have begun treatment today! She has confirmed the lyme diagnosis and has provided medications to get my treatment started. (about $700 yesterday. :(
I hope those meds last a long time.) I see her again in 3 weeks.
Based on the IGENEX blood test and my symptoms, she believes I have parasites, Lyme, and also bartonella and babesia. She says that she doesn’t bother testing for co-infections as the tests are expensive and not always reliable. She says that most LLMDs in the states do not bother testing for those either. They diagnose based on clinical symptoms.
She believes that my infection is still in the acute stage rather than in a chronic stage. Yay!! She also says the fact that I have not been on antibiotics yet (it difficult to get treatment here in Canada) is a blessing in disguise. She wants to mostly target the parasites and co-infections before going after the lyme. She says the more knowledgeable (and effective) LLMDs treat parasites and co-infections first and then go after the lyme. Also, she wants to initially focus alot on detox for me. Says that my body has difficulty detoxing.
I am on several different supplements and herbals:
Chlorella
HMF Super Powder (probiotic)
Magniesium
Core mineral supplement
'Tick-Attack' herbal supplement
Tick-Attack is by "Veriditas Herbal Products" and contains: Atrogalus membranceus, agaricus blazei, Bupleurum falcatum, Ganoderma lucidum, G. applanatum, G. Tsugae Lontimas edodes, Blycerrhiza glabra, Elcutherococcus senticosis, Grifola frondosa, lmonotus obliquus, Trametes versicolor, Ascorbic Acid)
I have never heard of Tick-Attack. I searched ths site and googled but didn't see much on it. Looks like the company is based out of Toronto, but that is all I could find.
I started the meds today and I think I am herxing already. But is that possible?? I take the Tick-Attack 3 times a day on an empty stomach.
After my first dose this morning, I started getting weak periods and other signs of a possible seizure coming on. After my second dose this afternoon, I had a pretty strong seizure. Not absolutely severe, but much stronger and longer than I have had in months (maybe 1.5 to 2 hours). It started just 15 minutes or so after the 'Tick-Attack'.
So, do you think a herx can come on that quickly? According to the information package from the LLND, herx reactions usually start a few days into the treatment. I am having this reaction after only 2 doses. I am still supposed to take a third dose before bed! I'll do a detox bath tonight.
Also, my fingers are beginning to feel stiff. But, I have never had finger problems before. Can a herx give new symptoms?
I also need to go on a no-yeast, no-sugar, no-gluten (or at least very low gluten) diet. Yeah, I know -- no surprise there. I started the diet today. I have done this (and stricter) before and for extended periods of time, so I don't anticipate too many problems with that. I am not a 'sweets' person anyway. But I must confess that I had a burger and fries last night for supper followed by ice cream for dessert. :)
The doctor is also going to start me on a RIFE machine (starting at 15 minutes). I am also doing ionic foot baths and need to look into infra-red saunas.
Well, I think that is it in a nutshell. Wish me luck everyone!!
