Hi everyone. I was just looking for some input on my situation.

On June 8th, I noticed a large red area over my C-section scar. It felt hot to the touch. I thought the scar (which is 10 years old) was starting to be infected or something. Starting the next day I began to feel some stabbing pains in my lower abdomen near the scar. I went to the ER on June 10th, thinking I had appendicitis or something, the pain was that bad. They didnt find anything wrong with me.

I followed up with my OB-GYN on June 13th, ruled out anything gynelocigal. Still feeling the abdominal pain but not as bad. The Dr looked puzzled by the red area on my scar and gave me an antibiotic for a possible skin infection. It didnt look like the classic bullseye rash - - there was a red spot in the center, but there was just a large oval of lighter red around it.

The following week the red area and on-and-off abdominal pain are still there. I go to my primary doctor on June 20, who thinks I have a hernia. I get a full round of blood work done, including a LYME test due to the red rash. Referred to a surgeon for the hernia.

Yesterday, I had a CT scan to rule out any other problems. The Dr calls me with the results of CT scan and blood work: I have Lyme's Disease, my liver is enlarged, but the blood test showed normal liver function.

Meanwhile, I now realize that the incredibly bad stiff neck I have had for 3 weeks is probably due to Lyme. Could the enlarged liver be due to Lyme? COuld Lyme cause the abdominal pain that sent me to the ER and has been on and off ever since? The doctor still thinks I have a hernia, and I willl still be giong to see the surgeon.

I wonder how long I ago I got the tic bite? How long have I had this?

I am on Doxycyc Mono for the Lyme.

So many questions and worries right now....... Thank you!

First of all, let me apologize for no one welcoming you sooner!! We get these spurts of activity on here and sometimes posts slip by us!! I'm so sorry!!

But, welcome to our little community!! I'm so glad you found us!
You are ahead of many in that you have a positive Lyme test! Only about 1/2 of those who actually have Lyme will test positive.

If you haven't already, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists (as Lyme rarely occurs by itself), helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, and a list of questions that you can ask any doctor that you are seeking treatment from!


We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts. We must be our own health advocates now and the best thing to arm yourself with is knowledge about our infections and the different ways to treat them!

You will need to see a doctor that has been trained on how to best treat these incredibly complex infections. They are known as LLMD's - Lyme Literate Medical Doctors - unless you wish to treat Holistically.

Since you've already started using antibiotics (abx) to treat these infections, you can get information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD in the _______ area." Although you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) trained doctor, as ID Docs (Infectious Disease Doctors) believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. It's great that you are full of questions!!! That's how we learn!! And you do need to learn all you can in order to help yourself heal as well as possible. So ask away!!

Have you tried any antifungals creams on the rash. Lyme leaves us immune compromised and prone to candida manifestations... How is your stool? Are you having symptoms there?
