How to test a baby that had a tick on him?

Hey. Yesterday my brothers baby had a tick on him and they pulled it out and sterilized the area after, they also kept the tick I believe to get tested. I think it was a tiny one. Regardless does anyone know the proper protocol for testing a baby? Is a repeat test recommended? Also are any companies' tests recommened and being tested for other things?

Thanks. Will check that link out. They found the tick pretty quick so could be nothing got transmitted but may as well make sure of that anyway.

If they still have the tick, please do have them send that in for testing if at all possible, it could reveal that there is nothing to worry about. Not all ticks carry these diseases.

I hope that they find they have nothing to worry about!

Thanks. I called ilads in the morning and got a lab recommendation from them to send the tick to, they did keep it up so hopefully they sent it out. That could make things a bit easier too if they find out the tick has nothing.

Very much so!! If the tick tests negative for any diseases, then they can rest easier knowing that it's not likely that the baby will have to face any consequences from having a tick attach!

On the other hand, an ounce of prevention ...... be sure to remind them that they need to remember this should the baby grow up and start having unusual symptoms (of any tick-borne disease), as we all know that this can come back on a person later in life.

It's sure a good thing that they have you in their life!!!
