I have NEVER had this issue before.
I got a small cut so I put a bandaid on it.
Then a the next day it felt sooo itchy. I pulled the bandaid off and I had 2 big blisters under the sticky part of the bandaid.
I assumed I had just left the bandaid on too long so I popped those blisters and then covered them with a bandaid to heal.
2 hours later the adhesive was casing even more blisters.
Needless to say I am no longer wearing bandaids on these sores.
This is so strange to me. I have never had issues with sensative skin or anything like this. I am using the same old brand of bandaids I always used...
Is this another "normal" of lyme?? This is rediculas to have these huge blisters from a couple hours of bandaid wear. What is up with my skin!?

It's quite possible that your skin has become very sensitive to many things - this happens to some. The skin seems to over react to many things. Many use an antihistamine, like Benedryl, to help reduce hives, blistering and itching. Check to see if the bandaides you are using contain latex, you may be reacting to that.

Bandaids are latex free...

It could just be that your skin is just being sensitive right now. I've had that happen, especially before I started effective treatment for my infections.

Just the fact that your skin isn't able to 'breathe' under that bandaid could be enough to cause a blister. As frustrating as it may be, I would just suggest that you stay clear of bandaids for a while. If you need to hold a bandage in place - because you have cut yourself say - use a piece of gauze or a non-stick pad and wrap it with a piece of gauze that comes in a roll and then you can secure it with a piece of tape, since it won't come in contact with your skin.

I normally don't use bandaids, I was actually just trying to be extra safe to avoid another infection. Lol, oh well! My being extra careful backfired.

LOL! Don't feel bad!! I did a lot of that too!!! Trial and error isn't always the easiest thing to do!

HallieMae - if you are still having this issuevor for anyone who is looking for the answer, the problem is not a latex allergy.

This is an allergic reaction to the adhesive on the bandaid.

It's so common that it's one of the compounds tested for when you have the TruTest done by an allergist. The TruTest is when they put a couple of large patches on your back for 48 hrs, then check for reactions at 48 and 72 hours. It's one of forty something compounds they test for.

I use gauze pads and paper tape. It's not ideal but it works. I do find that my hands and feet don't react. If I have to use a bandaid I take it off as soon as possible and then scrub off the residue.

I have the same issue with some bandaid brands. My skin is just too sensitive to the adhesive. I can only use gauze with 3M Tegaderm film over it. Like the other advized: I would stay off the bandaids for now.
You can put an antobiotic cream like on them to prevent infection, and then apply eosine to dry them out. They should heal pretty quickly once the bandaid has been removed.
