Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum and recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. I started having symptoms in Late July and was diagnosed by an llnd in September.

I was treated with minocycline for three weeks before I found out that I was pregnant and my llnd switched me to amoxicillin. I was seeing improvement with minocycline, but am concerned I will not see as good of improvement with the amoxicillin. I have had a lot of neurological symptoms and as far as I know this is not a chronic lyme infection.

also I am looking for some advice from others who have been pregnant with lyme. I am very concerned for the health of this child. Has anyone had success treating lyme during pregnancy? What ABX did you take? Did you have a healthy child? What kind of detox methods do you recommend?

Any stories, experiences and advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Nikitakat,

I had been treated with Doxycycline for about a year before I became pregnant. I felt great wasn't having any symptoms of Lyme at that time.

I was put on Amoxicillan during my pregnancy and I felt great. I never had symptoms throughout it. My baby was healthy and did not have any complications during pregnancy or labor. She warned me I would probably flare after labor since it takes such a tole on our bodies. I did and she put me on amoxicillian and azithromycin since I was breastfeeding.

I know I was in a bit of a different situation than you but I wanted to share my experience. Hope it helps and best of luck!

We do have a number of mothers of young children in our community. I bet if you were to start a new post with the title mentioning pregnancy, Lyme and needing some advise, you'd get a bunch of responses!

I can tell you that I was pregnant and had Lyme and other tick-borne infections and didn't know it. I have two adult children who are happy and healthy - so it's not a guarantee that your children will get it. Although I highly encourage you to do all that you can to ensure that they don't.

You will be a wonderful mother, I'm sure.
