After 2 and a half years, I have finally been approved for disability benefits FOR LYME! It's so validating to finally have someone review my file chock full of labs and documents from doctors all over the east coast and be like "yup - she's definitely way too sick to function right now" - the judge even said in his letter that the findings of the government doctors they had evaluate me were discarded because they basically blew me off and called the whole of my condition "mild depression" (typical).

This whole label thing - "disabled" - is stirring a lot of emotions, but hopefully having the extra help with benefits - especially past due ones - will help me FINALLY get better!

Just wanted to share the good news with those who've been there for me through this madness throughout the years.

This is! And Kudos to you for keep on fighting for that. And it sounds like you got the judges attention as well. Hopefully you've paved the way for a few others in your situation not to have to go through quite as much hassle to get disability.

I'm happy for you and I hope you will be able to just focus on healing now!

Borderlyme, I am so thrilled for you.  Monetary compensation does help ease the financial and emotional burden a bit, I am sure. 

For others who are trying for S.S. benefits make sure you have a lot of documentation.  Most times it can take up to 3 times to go before the judge before a positive judgment is made.

oh I am so happy for you my disability is under review now. I was orginally diagnosed with bipolar whil doped up on benzodiazepines. I now believe it was lyme. I hope they consider I have been diagnosed with lyme. jackie
