My friend just sent me this article. Heart symptoms are some of my worst. In fact, I've had palpitations all day today. One of my first symptoms back in August when I knew something was truly wrong with me was what I considered to be inflammation of my heart, lungs, and brain. Anyone else having a lot of heart symptoms?

Hi SouthernChick,

Many of us, myself included - had or have heart issues with lyme. I had palpitations and tachychardia and unknown to myself post orthostatic tachychardia syndrome (which causes both palps and tach). It did go away with treatment though it would occasionally flare even towards the end.
It should go away with treatment though I would recommend seeing a cardiologist just to be safe! How is treatment going for you?

Some of my first major symptoms (before I even contemplated Lyme) were heart related. I saw 2 different cardiologists, wore a holter monitor, had echo cardiograms, ekg's, physical and nuclear stress tests, all but the holter came back fine. The holter monitor showed that even at rest my heart was beating between 95-101 bpm (tachycardia) that coupled with the rest of my symptoms, led the 2nd cardiologist to a diagnosis of POTS, I live with that for over a year. I still have symptoms, and my daughter has been diagnosed with POTS as well, she's 14. I had planned on taking her to see my ND, and after a conversation with her school nurse, I'm definitely taking her. The nurse mentioned that POTS is secondary to all kinds of autoimmune disorders and to Lyme. This is scary business. I pray to God, that my daughter just has POTS and that she'll out grow it, but I'm getting her tested, I don't want her to feel what I, or any other Lymie feels.

Although many of us have some heart issues, if you are having concerning heart issues, please get checked out.

I too had my heart issues resolve with treatment.

I, too, have heart issues. Very scary. It's been at least 2+ year, told my old pcp's about it amny times, and they always pushed it under the rug.Recently starting realizing probably lyme/co. Got tested via IGeneX, positive, but llmd said I don't have lyme. They said to see a cardiologist for the heart issues. And I need to start on Celexa, and all my health issues will 'go away.' Love this stuff. Couldn't make it up if I tried....talking about how most doc's are so supportive and educated. On that note, I have my follow-up with that llmd for my 16 blood test results on the 23rd. I wouldn't go back except I need those results.

Thankfully, I got info on another llmd that I will be going to as soon as I am able. Hopefully next month. I highly doubt the llmd I am currently seeing will be of any help. If you ask me, they already have their mind made up that I need head-meds, not lyme meds.

I recently got on Medicaid, and today called my pcp for a 1st visit. Thank you ObummerCare, I have my appt Jan 30th, ONLY 48 days from today. I mentioned the heart issue, and was told if need be, go to the ER.

I am wondering what this journey to a new pcp will gain for me. I hope to see a cardiologist, but I imagine all that depends on if the new pcp 'thinks' I merit that, and then if I do, God only knows how long I'll wait for that appt, and then we'll see what they do, and if they can actually find anything. I do know, and I've told my sweetie, if I die, have them look at my heart!

But, as in all things in this life, it's one step at a time. One thing for sure, I'm thanking God I'm still here to enjoy today!!!

Hi there!!! I hope all is well. I had a cardiologist. Finally went and I got an echocardiogram and a holter attached to me for 48 hours. It was all worth it because now my mind can be put to ease because I don't have heart issues. But I didn't know it and was concerned like you. So my advice like everyone elses is to go and get it checked out by a cardiologist :-) better to know then not know. You also want a good sonographer who knows where to find bacteria on the echo. I had the best one in the building! He walked me through my echo as I saw my heart on the screen (amazing sight to see).

Thank you all for your responses. It is so reassuring that I am not alone! And most of all that I am not making this stuff up! I have had tachycardia also. I'm sure it is due to Lyme. I could spend thousands of more dollars trying to find out, but I was a very healthy young lady of 56 before July 30th. I have always exercised, eaten well, and enjoyed life. I have no reason to have cardiac problems other than Lyme. I am going on antibiotics in January. Still want to get an iSpot Lyme test before I begin just to be double sure. Thanks again!

For over 20 years I have had heart palpitations. I went to the doctors a few times not knowing I had lyme all the times I sought help, and even wore a heart monitor but nothing was diagnosed or found. I know how you feel. Since I have been on antibiotics for the past three months and now on herbal antibiotics from Byron White company (which I just started) to take a break from the minocycline and rifampin, my heart palpitations are almost completely gone. It took 3 months. It is amazing what happens when you start destroying the bacteria. It takes a lot of pounding day after day with these treatments and you won't feel well but it will work in time.

I've had both orthostatic issues (ie palps) and tachycardia, which no doctor can explain (ha ha). My heart rate once went up to 150. Part of that was hyperthyroidism, so you need to get checked out asap. I still have tachycardia (post thyroidectomy), and I take Bystolic.

Yes, please have your heart evaluated!! I had bradycardia, heart palpitations, sob, and dizziness. My holt moniter was normal except for resting heart rates occasionally of 35-40 bpm! My Cardiologist wrote it off because I was a runner but I kept having problems and he investigated further, and found a hole in my heart I have had since birth! It is somthing I will now need to have monitered.
