Difference between menopausal hot flashes and Babesiosis?

I have hot flashes during the day and night, and sometimes they're drenching, with sweats. I started having hot flashes and became menopausal after chemo. and radiation for surgery.

I still have hot flashes, sometimes with drenching sweats. They often get worse when I feel sick. I have them day and night. So what's the difference, really?

That's a good question, one I've wondered about before, but never asked since I wasn't going through it. I never had the menopausal sweats. I hope you get some answers.

I had the same question and when I asked my Herbalist, she told me that the menopausal hot flashes start in the center of the chest - either front or back, and aren't usually drenching.

Oh - so that meant that I was having Babesia sweats.....until a few months later when I started menopause! It was nice to know the difference though!

For menopause symptoms, I've been pretty lucky that they are too severe and I have been able to control them with a progesterone cream, motherwort tincture, and black cohosh.

My menopausal hot flashes never did start in the center of my chest though. Actually, I think they started in my hands when I first went through menopause, and now, whatever it is, I feel it in my face, and then it spreads through the rest of my body, and I get so hot, I absolutely have to start taking clothes off and opening the car windows. I like 20 degree weather when I feel like this.

What's bad is when I'm in bed, and I have to throw the blankets off (then get cold), and pull them back up, and I have to repeat this ritual all night, with the sweating. I'm wondering which is which, because I think maybe my LLMD has me on too low a dose of Malarone (is it Malarone that treats Babs?). It seems to cycle off and on.

I had the same things happen when my hormones were out of balance. I was sweating at night, I would be drenched in sweat, then take the blankets off, then I would freeze and put new pajamas on and put all the blankets back on. It was brutal. Now I am taking bio-identical progesterone, and DIM and my hormones are better, and I don't go through this torture anymore. I totally sympathize with you this is awful to go through and it could be both the babesia and the hormones. It stinks. :( I hope it gets better soon for you.

Thanks, that's nice!

I use progesterone spray, and of course, without the spray, it's even worse, but the spray isn't enough. I'm not allowed to use estrogen.

What is DIM?

I started DHEA, which I hope won't mess up my chances of br cancer reoccurring, and I need to take Evening Primrose on a more regular basis.
