I am wondering if any of you can shed light on the effects of Lyme and/or coinfections on our reflexes. When I was examined the first time by my LLNP, I didn't have a gag reflex. I know for a fact I've had a gag reflex all my life. I have since tested it myself, and it is true - I now have zero gag reflex. I am also wondering how that ties in with sleep disturbances caused by obstructive apnea. It seems to me that if the disease has affected that area of my body resulting in no gag reflex, then it would also affect the musculature surrounding the esophagus or the esophagus itself causing the collapse of it during sleep and blocking the airway. Is that we so many of us have sleep disturbances or sleep apnea? What exactly causes this?
Thanks for responding - I find this unpleasantly fascinating and would like to learn more from the forum.
