"I'm just sort of wondering where and with whom I belong?"
This is the recent question asked on another posting by our one and only dear, dear teragram/Margaret.
Well, our lives go through 'seasons,' and some are great, others not so, and some are clear and fine, and others are foggy and painful.
Through it all, each one of us, regardless of history, actually belong to a tribe. Some belong to many, different tribes, and others might have only one. One tribe we all belong to is the tribe of humanity. As hard as we try, it is the one we can never get away from until we take that final journey.
I lived a long, long time thinking that my 'family' tribe was supposed to behave and treat me in certain ways. I strongly believe in 'do unto others as I would have them do unto me,' and I live my life this way. I believed everyone held to this way of living and treating others. Hmmmm. This set me up for a lot of crushing dissapointments. I've recently realized that people are who they are, and the ones I'm related to are nothing like me in their personal beliefs, family system beliefs, character traits, etc. Only recently have I discovered that my family is one of my 'tribes,' but they are not my True Family tribe: That's the Tribe I CHOOSE to belong to, based on the safe, honored, balanced, and healthy relationships that I have with people who, most, are not blood related.
And so, Margaret, you belong here, with those who are familiar, and truly understand at least some of what's going on with you. We all belong here, and it's my hope and prayer, that as a community/tribe, we carry ourselves and treat others with honor, dignity, kindness, and lots of space to BE while we travel on our healing path.
May this new year be one where each of our questions are answered and our healing touches our whole person.
