Good LLMD's & Differences between MS & Lyme

I am looking for Lyme answers. So I want to go to see a LLMD, there are three around my city, so I am wondering how to choose an efficient, experienced one. And who understands English!

Also what are some of the obvious differences between MS and Lyme? There is not a lot of information about this subject. And I am very interested.

Sue, you may want to give the name of the city where these doctors are, as well as the initial of their last name so people know which doctors you are referring to. Keep in mind that what makes a good doctor for one person may not be the same for you.

The difference between MS and Lyme: They are two completely different illnesses. Lyme mimics so many diseases and MS is one of them, thus the connection between Lyme and MS.

I read somewhere that some doctors are treating MS with antibiotics like they treat Lyme and they are seeing results. Can the people with MS that are responding to the antibiotics really have Lyme instead of MS? Maybe. Doctors don't understand MS well and they don't understand Lyme well either. This may be the reason why you are not finding conclusive answers.

I was taking an ABX back in October for an infection-it was a high dose 1500mg. a day and I felt so good for about a month so whatever this illness is it responds to ABX. But this is still a mystery and I was curious what the symptom differences of the 2 illnesses are?

These are the LLMD's---Dr. S, Mequon,WI
Dr. W, Brookfield, WI
Drs. M, West Allis, WI

As Healing said, what makes a good LLMD for one person, may not make a good LLMD for another - but there is a list of questions on page 2 of the "New to Lyme?" thread that members here had put together that would be very helpful - which is why we have it!!

I really don't know too much about MS, but I do know that it doesn't respond to abx, so that would be your biggest clue as to what you truly are dealing with.

It seems that there is a relationship between the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and MS. Take a look at the article in the link below:

It also seems like Resveratrol is effective in the treatment of the EBV virus which is found on 100% of MS patients.

LearnLyme, I wouldn't agree that most Lyme patients don't have lesions. Most every Lyme patient I have ever talked with that has had a brain scan has had lesions, including myself!

Well, when you say it that way...... smilewinkgrin

I agree that unless it's further investigated that it could be something other than Lyme that is causing someones lesions, but I don't think it's good to just say that most Lyme patients don't have lesions.

To Learn Lyme--Your info states that you are positive for Lyme and are diagnosed also with MS. Which one is

really your true diagnosis? And how did the doctor finally decide which it is?

I know my knowledge would be a lot less without this place.

I do agree with you, which is why I'm still here posting. Some days - like today - I wonder if some places like this aren't better than doctors!

My concerns lie more with someone not "seeing" the whole picture, which is why many of my posts are so dang long! We get a lot of people that don't join, but read the posts here. I just didn't want anyone reading that and thinking that if they had lesions, they didn't have Lyme. Honest, I'm not arguing with you - I actually agree with you!

To Learn Lyme, Are you treating your Lyme then with ABX and do you get your meds from the LLMD?
If your illness might not be Lyme, will there be damage or progression if it is not treated. Or maybe there is no effective med for MS?

Learn lyme^^^ that's very interesting. I'm an RN and didn't know that, and a very curious person by nature too! Never knew 80% had a "benign" type of MS.
