How to get properly tested for Lyme disease?

I want to get a blood test for Lyme disease. I read a post a while ago that gave instructions on what type of tests to get and where to send it and such but I didn't save all that information. Can anyone help me out with how to get a good blood test? I have had my Lyme symptoms for 9 1/2 years and I read that people get false negatives when they have had it that long so is there anything I can do to get the most accurate results? Thank you :)

Hi Yellow Daisy - Most of the members here will recommend you get your test at Igenex. Its the most accurate and will reveal more bands specific to Lyme. You can of course get this through Igenex directly but the test is expensive. So you might want to get preapproval from your insurance plan to do this and at least walk yourself through the reimbursement form. My own plan requires that I go through a medical professional for these tests before reimbursement, but yours might be different.

That's an excellent question. I think it might be addressed in the introductory thread (first thread).

Yes, Western Blot, Igenex, and then find an LLMD to read the test (that's the most important)! bc otherwise it might read CDC negative, since the CDC doesn't look at specific bands.
