Hello. I have located a place that does all sorts of lab tests. This is what they offer for Lyme. Are these good tests in your opinion?
EIA Method (POS/NEG)
ELISA Followed by WESTERN BLOT
Thanks,

The only decent test you listed for Lyme is the Western Blot but only through IGeneX Labs. I've had it done through another lab that is supposedly a specialty lab and the results were night and day. The other tests are pretty much worthless.

Does the EIA method also say Lyme C6 or C6 peptide? The Lyme C6 EIA is really good and only 1 out of 100 people with Lyme get a false positive. Although a negative result does not mean the person doesn't have Lyme.
ELISA is the screening net to catch people with Lyme but every 6 out of 10 people with Lyme come back negative with this test. The Western Blot is more detailed and gives more clues about
a person's antibodies to Lyme. Both tests produce false negatives. Which is why Lyme is a clinical diagnosis.
Clear as mud?

Thank you for the info. It's hard to find a LLMD in South Florida. Only recently have I realized what a politicized and polarizing issue Lyme is. It seems that many doctors think Lyme is no big deal and that the available tests are infallible. I am at a bit of a loss at this point. I saw an MS specialist who says the lesion on my brain is not typical of MS. Also some of the symptoms don’t add up. I am doing a lumbar puncture this Monday (Eeek). I thought doing these Lyme tests might be a good idea. If they are no good though I might reconsider.

One of the forum moderators might be able to provide you with a LLMD near you.
