Lyme Disease Flare?

I feel like warmed over death so I'll try to get to my question quickly.

I was diagnosed and treated for Lyme Disease last July when I had Doxycycline for three weeks. It eliminated most all of my symptoms except for mid-back pain that would show up in the middle of the night and go away after getting up for the day.

Anyway, I thought that I had come down with a cold this past week but it seems much more severe than any cold that I have experienced in the past. I have also been experiencing night sweats every night which I have never had during previous colds. I have also had very little appetite which is different than my experience with past colds.

So my question is: could this be Lyme Disease aggressively showing itself again?

I started doing a bunch of different strains of probiotics recently and I know it caused a major battle in my gut but I'm thinking that I may have woken a sleeping giant.

Help....

Welcome to the Lyme forum! I'm so sorry that you are feeling so poorly right now.

As LearnLyme has said, three weeks isn't enough time on any abx to treat a Lyme infection, and you would have had to be on high doses for it to do more than to just push the bacteria into it's cyst form or for it to hide in bioflims. The appropriate amount of time on 400 - 600 mgs of Doxy each day is actually 8 weeks if there are no symptoms, longer if there are symptoms.

You really need to be seen my a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) or treat Holistically in order to treat properly. I did notice in your signature that you have a pretty serious health issue, so I would encourage you to look into Holistic treatments for your Lyme infection.

Night sweats would indicate Babesia, but since you are also battling a cold, it could be related to that as well. It would be really good for you to take a look through our "New to Lyme?
