Minocycline and grey teeth?!

I've noticed my teeth becoming dull/grey, and just found out that mino can cause this, and it could be permanent!? Anyone have any experience with this? Apparently only 3-6% of adults get this side effect...

Will it go away after treatment, or will teeth whitening remove it, or at least mask it? I really don't want to stop this med...I feel like things are finally starting to work...but I also don't want skeleton teeth...

What else can I even take, cuz doxy will more than likely do it too...

I just got my teeth cleaned and my dental hygienist asked if I drank a lot of tea of coffee. When I told her I drink none and that I was on outrageous dosage of Doxy for months and that I read on this forum about teeth stains from antibiotics she agreed that's what it was from. She said my teeth were really stained. I was there for a long time and felt like I should have given her a tip!

There's some stains on them, but my main concern is they look almost translucent...grey from the inside, and I noticed a couple little black spots on my gums. Everything I've read said it's irreversible, and I need to stop the medication. The teeth I could maybe deal with...when I'm better, I can go back to work, and save up for veneers, but there's nothing that can cover the gums.

What are my alternatives to cyclines? Calling my Dr as soon as he opens, but I'm scared now that I won't be able to get proper treatment without destroying my mouth.

I'm not sure if this will be the case for you, but I was on minocycline for 5 years in middle school/highschool. My gums turned this blue grey color and when I had my wisdom teeth out he showed me that my teeth were black. I don't know how long it took, but after a while I no longer had the blue/grey gums and I imagine the teeth are no longer black. I have been on doxy a while now and am noticing a slight color to my gums now so I imagine they are turning again, but I am not too worried since it reversed in me before.
