Advice on choosing a naturopath?

I don't know who or where to ask this question, so maybe someone here can help me out.

I am looking for a naturopathic doctor to treat my Lyme disease but there are no naturopaths anywhere near me who have experience in treating Lyme, so my mom called around and found a few naturopaths in other states who are willing to treat me over the phone.

I thought this was great, but then someone at an ND's office in CA told my mom it is illegal to treat patients over the phone. Does anyone know if this is true? Why would some NDs say they will treat me over the phone if it is illegal? Are they some sort of scam or is it really not illegal? I am not sure if I should get treated by an ND over the phone now. I absolutely cannot travel, so flying to other states is out of the question.

Can anyone help me out? I am not sure if I should be seen by a doctor over the phone or not.

We've worked with some over the phone, but we had to go see them once. They used homeopatic medicine, so it works well to do a phone appt. A homeopath in Seattle, WA works with patients all over the world.

The laws probably vary by state. It's too bad you don't have one locally.

I don't think they're a scam. The bulk of naturopaths are very caring people and want to help anyone who comes their way. I'd suggest you call them yourself and ask if it's illegal for them to offer that to you, then ask why they offer to if it is. You could ask for references too or maybe look them up online.

There are a few herbal protocols you can do at home if that would interest you. You're mom could probably help you with it or people on here can. They're listed in the "New to Lyme?..." thread.
