Sunburn?!?

Hi again!
Also wanted to ask everyone....last week I was on vaca in the Carribean. This was prob a huge mistake...Always been a sun worshipper..I no longer am...I was advised to not be in the sun b/c of the antibiotics. I used spf50, wore a hat and stayed in the shade...only going into the sun on walks from short distances. I got a horrible sun burn on my face and hands. The beach air really affected my skin with horrible burning, stabbing pains on my face and hands. I was able to tolerate the pool area for a longer period of time before the pain was unbearable. I spent lots of time in my room until night fall when the sun was down...Friends called me a bat. lol...
My face and 3 fingers on each hand (don't know why that is) felt like acid was poured on them. Hurt sooo bad. I have been home now for over a week. My face and hands no longer hurt but are peeling, itchy and finally healing. Has anyone had this experience???? wondering if the cause of this is the antibiotics ( doxy, hydroxychloroquine, cefuroxime) or a lyme issue...

Doxy and sun don't go together. My dr don't prescribe it when it's summertime...

Also, one of the possible side effects of hydroxychloroquine is hypersensitivity to sun...

It must have hurt so much...

Maybe for the future: another antibiotic Tetracycline (was treated with that abx for Lyme too) can also make your skin more sensitive to sun.

Can you switch doxy to something else?

My LLMD switched me because I'm going on a cruise in May and didn't want to have to worry about the sun. I think a lot of antibiotics do come with sun warnings but doxy is a MAJOR one.

FYI - The brand Banana Boat makes a kids sunblock that is SPF 100
