thanks Chapelle for answering the dosing question earlier.
Turns out the dose she prescribed was 500mg/5mL to be given in 4.8 ml doses. And what the pharmacy did was adjust it to 400mg/5mL to be given in 6 ml doses instead. I spoke with the Dr.'s nurse, who spoke to the pharmacy and then called me back to let me know that.
But thanks again for you input too!
and yes, the azithromycin is partly for just in case Bartonella she said, and also, she said she likes to use two antibiotics at once to try to prevent resistance.
I've heard of Dr.s doing it both ways (one abx I mean or more than one). I think it's kind of confusing that there are different ideas, but I guess maybe there doesn't have to be a one size fits all tx?
again, she has stressed me out by kind of doubting the lyme dx (due to the not many +'s on his test). I've talked now to a few people, yourself included, who say there child was dx with just a 41 + and symptoms or 39 ind, 41 + and symptoms,
and then there's the fact that even an ID Dr. told my pediatrician that according to the test results we should "definitely treat for lyme",
well, anyway, she's treating lyme now and that's good,
but… again what she said Monday was "I'm not sure that your son does have lyme". And honestly, I am. (and two other dr.s think so too, but she said she was surprised they said that) ugh.
I've heard great things about
her from adult lyme patients. I know the trouble this is her first child patient.
I'm kind of confused as to if I should have a conversation with her now or a little later about
how kids can be dx without positive tests or what? I don't think I can resist the urge to call her and talk to her about
this soon, even though as of now she hasn't "ruled out lyme". I'm still confused. I think I'll talk with he next week.
I don't want to insult her, but I need to know if she'll decide my son has lyme without the positive test if she heard that other lyme literate dr.s treating kids do.
If she could sincerely believe that I would keep her as his dr., b/c I think her tx of lyme sounds good (it's just that she doesn't know if she thinks my son has it.)
anyway, thanks for listening Chapelle and anyone else!
