Hello all,
I'm looking for an LLMD in the Philadelphia or South Jersey (ideally around Voorhees/Cherry Hill) area. My mother was diagnosed with Lyme Disease about a year ago after a fairly serious flare up (although it is believed the disease was dormant for some time before that). Doctors refused to believe that Lyme Disease was the only cause of her symptoms, but after reading other's posts on this forum and at other locations, I strongly believe Lyme Disease is the (primary) cause of what she experienced.
Fast forward to last week. After over 6 months of feeling relatively normal, my mother had a small stroke (TIA). The diagnoses was based solely on symptoms (confusion, high BP, unusual speech - all temporary after about a day); all tests (CT scan, MRI - a white spot appeared on the brain that did not create suspicion, MRA, echocardiogram) returned normal. I did a search for "lyme disease" and "TIA," and several results came up with people who have Lyme Disease, experienced a stroke or TIA, and had normal tests. I mentioned my mother's Lyme Disease to the hospital staff who treated her for the TIA (neurologist, nurse), and all seemed confident that Lyme Disease was not a cause. Although it is very possible that it is not the cause, my mother did feel some symptoms typically associated with her Lyme Disease for the past couple of weeks before the stroke, but did not think anything of it.
I'm hoping if anything, an LLMD will provide some additional insight into her condition.
I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide. My mother lives in South Jersey - a South Jersey LLMD would be preferred, but any in Philadelphia would also be greatly appreciated.
