Hi Liverette,
I have Bartonella, and had it for years, it is indeed a mean thing... It causes a lot of pain and a lot of emotional distress... The Bartonella rage is something that still continues to amaze me (and my husband - LOL - the poor guy doesn't understand sometimes, why oh why is she behaving like this???)
My dr has a LOT of patients, and his own statistics show that 97% of his patients that have Bartonella will eventually test positive for Borrelia once treatment has been started.
There is not much known about
Bartonella, he reads a lot of veterinarian studies, cause there are much more of them.
Bartonella can be very difficult to put down. I have been on abx for 15 months in total, and I keep on having heavy Bartonella flares. I don't want to discourage you at all, I hope you don't interpret it like this, but it's a difficult one to deal with. BUT we have success stories on here, so I am not at all discouraged.
Traveler is one of the success stories, she was infected for decades and she is taking up her life again. She treated the Bartonella with Houttuynia. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you sent her an email.
You could also use the search function on the upper right side of this page. You'll find a lot of information about
Houttuynia.
There is also the Cowden Protocol that treat Bartonella, some people use clove oil, but I haven't done that yet.
I used Houttuynia myself for 2 months (It is very powerful, so if you ever decide to give it a try, I would advice you to go very very slow). Then I had to stop cause my body needed a break, and I couldn't go on with abx and had to start the Cowden protocol (modified version, prescribed by my llmd), but I will restart the Houttuynia once the build up of the Cowden Protocol is complete.
It is good though to keep in mind that testing for coinfections is not accurate at all, and to keep them in mind.
good luck!!!
