Day 1 of treatment and already scared

I went into work today feeling shaky but have been doing it for over a year now. Today I started my antibiotics and was dizzy, shaky, massive headache, on my way home I felt like I was going to get sick and eventually did when I got home. I knew I was going to get worse...but this is not a good start I HAVE to work it's only me supporting myself. I'm freaking out a bit.

I'm worried about starting too, I got my meds a few days ago but decided I'm going to detox my body as much as I can b4 taking all my meds so I hope the herx will be less

I thought I had prepped pretty well but apparently not. I am on the following:

Metronidazole 500 mg 2x
Minocycline 100 mg 2x
Cefdinir 300 mg 2 AM 2 PM
Azithromycin 500 mg 2x

Now one of these I don't take until my second week but all my stuff is downstairs and after getting sick I have no energy to go down there. sigh...

oh my, you are on a strong treatment plan - my doctor started me off slow. I was only on doxycycline and I herxed badly!

what is your detox regimen?

is it the flagyl that you are starting the second week?

wow you are on strong plan. but I feel I am too, minocycline, rifampin, azithromycin, and tomorrow start mepron. I am scared about taking that stuff.

Flagyl is what I will take the second week. Back in Nov I took a 28 day cycle of doxy and had no problems, in fact I showed improvements.

My detox regimen is epson salt baths twice a week, lemon water, green tea.

Hi gingeranne,

It is okay to be scared - we completely understand and hey, we are here for you! That is a strong regimen. I will tell you I could not tolerate more then 2 abx at once.

My LLMD would do the following...

Minocycline 100 mgs 2x/day for 3 days if OK

add 250 mgs of azithromycin 2x/day for 3 days if OK

up to the full dose of azith for 3 days

etc. etc.

Wow that is just a lot of antibiotics. LISTEN to your body. If you are feeling horrible, back off your meds, DETOX, and call your doctor. Lyme is a marathon, not a sprint.

What supplements are you taking?

I would add charcoal caps to the detox regimen at night when you go to bed.
also, alkaseltzer gold is excellent to keep your body more alkaline.
ask your dr about these
also, as opugirl said, that's a lot to do to your body all at once.
I would call your dr and also ask if you could do what opugirl did and slowly introduce everything every couple of days......

Thanks opugirl! I agree about listening to my body I was prepared to feel worse but this may be a bit much (edit just realized I only take meds M,W,F). The supplements I am currently on:

Fish Oil
Vitamin D
Vitamin C
Multivitamin 2 AM/ 2 PM
Chelated Magnesium
Calcium Citrate
2 different type of probiotics
I am slowing adding more supplements as suggested by my LLMD such as B12, Natokinesse (sp), vitamin E

Chapelle-Thanks! My Dr did say I could use the alkaseltzer gold so I may look into that too!
