I started taking Coptis yesterday to replace the Allicin (family and colleagues can't deal with the smell). It feels like a heavy duty tranquilizer! Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like I am sleepwalking...

I took Coptis, and it just made me herx. It didn't feel like a tranquilizer. You're probably herxing.

PS, If the Allicin worked, and you liked it, to heck with your family and friends and their reaction to the smell. They need to be more understanding about Lyme D.

Interesting, I felt that heavy tranquilizing effect the first 2 times. I still probably feel some of that effect to some degree, but it's something mild now. I find it to be an added benefit.

I took it too in the past, but gave it up: toooo strong for me.

I think the Chinese never give coptis alone, if my memory is good. I supposed it was too strong.

But if you guys become sleepy, that may be good?!

You all mean, sleepy like very relaxed, or sleepy like totally drained of energy?

these are very different reactions! The first one is positive to the immune system, like stopping anxiety and regulating the ANS.

the second one, I don't know: it could be herx, it could be bad or good...

I would say it's more like relaxed that in rarely turns into sleepiness. I see it as a positive thing. I know how it feels when you take something that makes you feel drained and this is not the case.

You found it too strong in what way?

I remember I felt pain ,probably in the stomach. It's long time ago, I can't remember in details...

But DON'T take me as an example: I have pain with chamomile tea and roiboos tea, said to help babies!!!

I can't stand these teas without tummy pain!!!

Also green tea, I have to take in MODERATION, or I'll have gastritis back.

So if you feel relaxed, it does look good to me too!! I'm sure if coptis had made me relaxed, i would have continued it too!!!

Good luck!! Let us know what you think about it, if you can take it for longer.

I rotate the allicin off and on. Very effective for me. Sure everyone wants to kill me while I'm on it because they say I smell awful but hey gotta do what I gotta do ;)

Not sure on the coptis. I've tried that before but I don't think it really hit my underlying infection(s). Could very well be a herx in your case, have you had herxes take that form in the past? The Warrior makes a good point, if it is a sleepy exhausted feel then this could more likely be a herx type deal. I've had herxes where the fatigue is just unreal.

It has a wide antimicrobial range, but Borrelia and Bartonella mostly.
