My first stool test came back negative for c. diff. Now, I've done a second stool test for c. diff., parasites, and yeast.
Even if I don't have c. diff. anymore, I'm having horrible symptoms: diarrhea, including accidents (UGH), mucus, sour smells, and most importantly, malabsorption, or inability to digest food. It just seems like more food passes through my colon than what I eat. I'm losing weight, as usual.
Based on several hours of research online (ARGHH), my feeling is that SIBO best matches all the symptoms I've had. I have no hope for any of my doctors figuring it out. They'll either tell me it's IBS and/or based on stress, or put me through a battery of tests.
I've had some success with the GAPS diet, but get stuck in the introductory phase, which is very limited, and haven't tried the SCD diet.
I'm trying an elemental diet right now, which basically means you don't eat anything that has to be digested!! It's all powders, honey, and oil.
Meanwhile, I'm still having soft stools.
Does anyone have additional info. on how I should treat this? I want to go back to my antimicrobials so I can treat Lyme and company!!
