Hello fellow lyme friends,

I have a question regarding treatment. So far, I have been on 4 different kinds of antibiotics over the course of 5 4 months and so far I have not seen improvement or decline in my main symptom, pain. To date I have not yet had a herx either. I'm thinking either the meds aren't working or there's something stopping them from working.

I have my appointment with my doctor in 2 weeks, so I want to bring some ideas in. What, if anything, stopped some of you from feeling better? To me, it seems like I should be at least feeling something, either better or worse, but it's just business as usual. I feel like after 4 different antibiotics, at least one of them should have provoked something.

Some people do not experience a herx but I think most do. What meds are you on ? What are your symptoms ? Any gains in overall functioning ? Progress seems kind of slow but it happens.

Hi Drew, Are you taking any sort of biofilm buster with your antibiotics?

I've been on 2-4 antibiotics for close to 1.5 years for Lyme. I just came up positive for Bartonella. That might be the reason why I haven't gotten better. I do herx like crazy from the antibiotics when I start a new one or cyclical, every 4-6 weeks. Did you test positive for Lyme? I wonder if you have coinfections rather than Lyme if you don't experience herxes, or maybe your body is great at detoxing and you don't really get a build up of toxins in your system. Another thing, along with the infection, you might have an autoimmune response happening at the same time that's causing pain. I just went to Columbia University Lyme research center and the Dr. Is testing my immune response in my nerves, to see if that's causing me extra pain.

Hope you can figure out why your pain is not getting better.

I guess I'm kind of a weird case, but I made gains in a lot of areas towards the beginning of getting sick without being on antibiotics at all. Then when I started getting treated, I continued to make gains in all areas except my pain.

I used to have 15-20 different symptoms, but the only ones left are pain and weird nerve tingling. My dr. diagnosed me with bart and lyme, and I've been taking Rifampin for almost 3 months for it and Biaxin for lyme. I am taking Grapefruit Seed Extract and Lumbrokinase to break up biofilms, but maybe I need something more potent?

I've done a lot of reading and there seem to be classic cases of lyme like what InspireddBy is going through, but also people like me that kind of defy the norm. Or maybe I have co-infections that my dr. hasn't caught yet. Either way, I'm going to bring this up during my next appointment and ask why he thinks I'm having such a disappointing response to antibiotics so far.

You need something like Flagyl to deal with the cysts.

B vitamins are a must when dealing with nerve issues, especially Vitamin B12.

The infections deplete B vitamins, as does the stress of dealing with the infections.

Nerves cannot heal without B vitamins.

Nerves also take a long time to heal, so this symptom may be the last one to go...

Not everyone herxes, or herxes noticeably...
