Hi, just a quick question, does anyone else have a sensitivity to cigarette smoke? (passive or not) I've become very sensitive to most things since this illness started, including alcohol (which I know is a popular one) but just wondered if anyone had it with cigarette smoke or even smoke in general for that matter! Lol.

I suppose one good thing came from this illness, I haven't smoked for over five years and become t-total because of it lol.

It's been so long since l've been around it that I don't know. When I was very ill before, it bothered me a lot. That was when it was allowed on planes and in the airports. I would feel terrible when we arrived at our destination.

Many Lyme patients have several chemical sensitivities. Shampoos, perfumes and other things like that bother us a lot. My daughter will get an instant headache from some of them, especially the flowery scents. Even some real flower scents will do it to her.

For about 15 yrs now I can't tolerate cigarette smoke and most artificial scents. Immediate burning of my nose and headache.

Yes, I have to use all natural cleaning products for the house, for my hair and skin, etc... I have never been able to wear fragrance but I found a light lemon scent made from lemon oil and it smells so good and isn't poison! The harshest thing I use in my house is Murphy's oil soap way diluted on my hardwood floors and wood work.

My daughter(15), wear this horrific bath and body works body sprays and I beg her to stop. It makes me feel so sick. For my sons I buy them all natural deodorants and hair and other products. My daughter refuses to use the all natural stuff. I ask if she's going to be in the car with me to at least not wear it.

Ditto - get really bad headaches, nausea, even more lethargic when around cigarette, air fresheners, chemicals, pot pourri ,scented candles, popular household cleaners and detergents - you name it, if it isn't natural, can't and won't be around it - all chemicals make me really ill. Also, just recently did I find out that I and a lot of Lyme sufferers have metal toxicity in the brain, too, to deal with.

Speaking of metal toxicity needhelp4, I had some results via email over the weekend stating i had 5 nl/mg of mercury in my body. Don't know the levels of 'safe' and poisonous, but I'm entrigued to find out
