I have been meaning to ask this for a while and keep forgetting.
In October of 2011, I was given a cortisone shot for Sweets Syndrome, which started this whole Lyme mess.
On December 1 of 2011, I was put on steroids for the Sweets Syndrome. It drove me crazy as I started on 40 mg. Couldn't tolerate it and went quickly down to 20 mg then lower in a few weeks. But I was on steroids for about 6 months, even though the last two months were at 2 and 1 mg.
This was before the Lyme Disease was found.
With all the steroids I took, is it possible to overcome the Lyme Disease? I have read very bad news in that area and am not sure if being on the steroids for so long will allow me to get better. Is your immune system compromised for good?
It has been written by Burrascano(?) that damage can be permanent if you use long-term steroids with Lyme Disease. Does he mean you cannot get better or has anyone experienced similar and gotten better?
Sorry for another question, but this now has me worried. Thank you all for your honest answers..
