Hello,
I am a new member. I am 29 years old and just received a diagnosis of Lyme disease on May 1, 2014. My suspicions that something was amiss with my health began apprx. two years ago. I developed symptoms that were hard to ignore. The only "discoveries" were stomach ulcers via a CT scan, a vitamin D3 deficiency, Raynaud's phenomenon and migraines. I haven't felt well for over a year. The numerous doctors, ER visits etc., left me feeling crazy because they weren't finding anything wrong.
I went to a scheduled appointment with my primary care yesterday and found out I have Lyme disease. The blood test results were shown to me. Finally, I feel validated and simultaneously feel bewildered. I was told I've probably had for some time now and was prescribed three weeks worth of doxycycline. I already have appts. with specialists lined up; gastro for stomach ulcers, neurologist for headaches and floaters, rheumatologist, pain management clinic etc. Its apparent that my Lyme disease is somewhat advanced so I want to make sure I get the care I need from someone who knows what they are doing. I did some reading and have found that I'll need to find an LLMD. I have Neighborhood Health Plan through Masshealth (not the best insurance). I need some help to find an LLMD in Massachusetts, preferably in the South Shore/Boston area.
Please, if anyone has recommendations or could point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful! I am trying to process my new diagnosis, educate myself and get a grip on Lyme disease. I'm really glad I found this forum!
Thank you!
