best probiotics for 11 year old on antibiotics?

Hi everyone,
My friend's 11 year old son is suspected to have lyme

Doctor has just started him on doxy and azithromycin.

She is wondering which probiotics are best and how much to take.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Our LLMD recommended Jarro-Dophalus EPS. (Don't know why that brand).  I have been able to get it in our grocery store and at a local vitamin store.  It is in the refrigerated section for the vitamins. 

In the past I have used all types of brands and had no problems.  My son is 11 also and has been off and on abx for the last 2 1/2 years.  Thankfully he has had not negative stomach side effects for them.

You could try S. Boulardii (but without MOS). It helps to prevent c. diff. It's been a controversial subject on this forum, but for me it works, as long as there is no MOS or FOS in it.

Bacillus Coagulans is a good one.

I like Ultimate Flora; titrate up to 50 billion, and then 100 billion.

One of the best things you can do is to have him drink kefir (preferably goat milk kefir).

It might also be good for him to eat sauerkraut made from raw veggies.

Both of these foods contain probiotics, and food sources sometimes tend to do better than capsules.

My sons LLMD wants us using three different brands and rotating them. Metagenics ultra flora plus is one that we use. We use a Boulardi as well but that's seperate from the probiotics. Thera biotic is another brand we use, it's pretty expensive 72.00 a bottle which is a month worth.

I use floramyces brand s boulardi. The ther biotic complete is the 72.00 one which is by KLAIRE LABS. IT IS EXPENISVE AS HECK, WE ALSO USE THE METAGENICS Unltra flora plus which is 37.00 for 60 caps and they have 15 billion per cap. The Ther biotic have 25 billion and different probiotics than many others. Most things we have are by THORNE AND METAGENICS, also intergratuce labs. That's what they carry at all my dr offices. I'm getting an account though with some company in California that has a glutathione paste that is formulated well for those with Mthfr mutations and also a form of artemisia that's supposed to be really good. Stuff that really supports methylation floats my boat.

Margaret I'm not sure but my sons LLMD wanted the s boulardi staggered.

My moms boyfriend is a cabinet maker and actually built me a cabinet just for supplements!

We used 75 billion probiotic cultures daily (away from abx) of a rotation through Align, Culturelle, PB8 and ReNew Life UltimateFlora.

I have been in treatment for almost 2 years (but, thank God, doing pretty great . . . off the boatloads of antibiotics and now on zhang herbs which seem to be working) and I can't imagine the challenges of treating a child. My heart goes out to all who have kids suffering with this.
