Hey everyone...
You know, for dealing with lyme for so, so long and reciting certain pieces of advice without a second thought, for some reason I never quite know what to tell someone when they ask for advice about a new tick bite (I guess because that part I never dealt with - my tick bite happened when I was young enough not to think twice about it myself!)
A friend of mine just contacted me saying he got a tick bite this weekend and asking if he should be concerned. Of course the answer is YES YES YES but what would those of you who've been through all of this suggest as advise? Is "go to your doctor and demand at least 28 days of doxycycline then watch for symptoms" good enough? Is there anything anyone would suggest beyond that as a means of preventing a potential infection from going chronic? Let's be honest, people in good health aren't about to go travel hours to find a good LLMD, spend money on extensive testing knowing it might not be reliable, etc. for something they don't even know they have.
I just never know what to say to someone in this situation without getting too pushy...thoughts?
