Weight Loss and Lyme?

I dint know, how tall are you, is 125 under weight for your height and build?

This disease is so frustrating. So I used to LOVE food. Would eat constantly. My weight was about 131 pounds and im 5'4". When I first got sick in December I got really bad nausea, daily and I couldn't eat. So I started to drop weight. But then even when I was able to eat, I noticed that I still lost weight. I would have a big mac and weigh less the next day. Ugg. One day in January, I ate McDonalds and Burger King and my weight still dropped! Then I knew something was really wrong.

My weight seems to hover around 116, which is really low for me. I try everything to gain weight and cant. The LLND doctor cant seem to figure it out. My worst symptoms by far and away are appetite, weight loss and nausea and throat issues, which seem to be 24/7. So many people tell me im too skinny and I just cry because I'm not trying to be that way!

I guess when you have a ton of toxins in your system your body cant absorb the nutrients any longer. So you could probably eat 10,000 calories a day and it wont matter.

I have tried digestive enzymes and it hasn't helped. My adrenals seem to be ok but maybe they are in overdrive? Don't know. Possibly your thyroid, but mine is not the issue. Its just crazy.

I'm trying something new in an all out effort to get the weight back.
I'm seeing a herbalist this week to see if she can help me detox my internal organs. I'm going after the liver. I think If I can totally flush out my liver then can maybe move more toxins out and start to gain.

I don't know if I have those mutations or not but Ive been sick since December and recovery has not been easy.

I am 5'5"....and normally 125 would be okay - that's how much I weighed when i was in my early twenties. When I'm 138 lbs, people don't believe that I'm that I weigh that much - they call me "skinny"...so at 125 I really do look skinny. I usually have quite a bit of muscle - on my butt, and leggs...but now nothing there.
But, it's the fact that I seem to be barely hanging on to that weight. I had inched up to 128 a few months ago...but couldn't maintain it.
Also, when I was 138 lbs, I had to watch what I ate...or I would gain...so I just don't understand now - I'm don't have nausea, I am eating...and I'm eating high calorie crap...and I know it's not healthy, but my focus is on getting back to 128...

It worries me that I might have cancer instead of Lyme disease, because you do lose weight with cancer.

my gut is good.

Although, I do see some undigested pieces of food in the p--p.

One more thing. I haven't treated for either confection but both Bart and babesia also cause weight issues. Bart notoriously attacks the gut and babesia causes a anexoria. I have not treated for either. At my next appt, I might look into babesia treatments and see if I can have any weight recovery.

I don't know how it works either but I have Lyme and Babesia and lost a bunch of weight too. I feel very unfeminine - hardly any boobs or butt left. I am 5'4" and weighed about 130 lbs before I got sick. I now weigh 110 lbs and am too thin in my opinion (and everyone else's).

I can't tell you how frustrating it is when people ask me if I am eating. I am always hungry and I eat and eat and eat. The odd time I have nausea, but luckily it never lasts very long. Mind you I am eating very healthy so after cutting out dairy, potatoes, sugar, and gluten I can see why I lost some weight, but I can't see it being 20 lbs worth. I also can't gain weight if I tried.

One doctor told me I was not absorbing nutrients so I guess that falls in line with what Louise74 said.

I've had a spinal tap and MRIs of my brain and neck. The tap can rule out cancer in the nervous system.

I have had the same problem - I lost 15 lbs in three months and don't want to lose anymore. I was trying to eat healthy for a while and now I just try to consume as many calories as I can!!

you don't want a spinal. I wish I never had it. I was sick before the spinal, but I was like near death after it. It brought out so many neuro symptoms and recovery has been much harder since. I would have been much further along without that dreaded spinal!!

how long did it take you to start gaining? ive been treating for a few months now and still cant gain. at one point, I quickly put on a few pounds but it melted right off again.

When my anxiety was through the roof Feb./Mar/April/ May of this year I lost 20lbs. The anxiety just took away my appetite. When I have good days which have been rare lately - I eat well and am hungry, but today is another anxiety day, so I haven't been eating all that much. Like Maine, above, my stomach ALWAYS looks bloated - doesn't matter what I eat or even drinK ANYTHING it looks like I'm 3 - 4 months pregnant. It sucks.

Lyme could have affected your thyroid, causing you to have a faster metabolism. Lyme can affect your adrenals and you won't gain weight. Lyme can stop you from absorbing nutrients and you won't gain.
If you have mold issues or parasites, you won't gain either.

I don't think you'll gain after a little bit of treatment. It probably takes a good six months or so of pushing back this illness and cleaning out toxins before you'll see a difference, or so I'm guessing.

i lost 20 pounds when got sick, then gained 10 back after main abx treatment.3years in and i cant seem to gain the other 10...

but i dont eat gluten dairy or sugar so how can i compare my old self, a pasta pizza beer cheese bread loving guy, with this new me... i know this is what healthy people dont eat if they want to lose weight....

one alternative idea that comes in my mind is
- muscle loss
- bone loss
both well known in neurodegenerative disorders...
