Would you please email me? I believe I can be of help - at least a little bit. I don't want to answer your questions in the thread that you posted them in ("New to Lyme? Start here!"), as that is supposed to be reserved for posting important disease/treatment information only.
To email me, just click on my screen name, or on the small blue envelope under my screen name.
So that you know right away - the IFA isn't a good test for Lyme disease. Many people have what is known as sero-negative Lyme, meaning that even though they test negative, they still have the infection.
And thank you for the kind words.
For those that are interested, here is ioylia's post:
Dear Traveller I am New to this Forum and would be glad of any help given.
I was bit by a tick in March 2013 in U.K. It was grey in colour, engorged and sitting on the tip of my finger. Stupidly when I saw it was a bug I screamed and flicked it off. It was only on me for about 20mins and I didn't develop the rash. I was ignorant about tick disease and did nothing about it and just carried on with my life. Three months after being bitten I started with all the symptoms and still didn't think it was the bite. Did a full circle of doctors, now have all sorts, enlarged liver, high cholesterol, extreme anxiety, depression, numbness and tingling in arms and legs, so much head pressure, constant insomnia and recently started with night tremours they are so frightening. All docs just kept putting me on antidepressants, but I never felt any better. So I came off them and started to eat healthy. Cutting out sugar from my diet.
In January 2014 I moved to Cyprus and started the familiar circle of running from doctor to doctor.
It was only by a stroke of luck I had taken my youngest son with me to one of my appointments (because I can no longer drive on my own the anxiety is too much) He relayed to the doc that his mum had never been well since the TICK bit her when she was planting my seeds. God love you son, the lights had been turned on.
The doc sent me for an IFA test because that is the only one they do in Cyprus. It came back igg 1.32 and igm negative. with this result he said the test was negative gave me xanax and sent me away.
I moved on to another doctor who said the test was positive and started me on doxy 100mg. I had an allergic reaction to it (throat closing over, red burning ichy skin) so she put me on amoxcillin 500mg with a probiotic which I have been taking for 3 days and feel awful.
I was wandering if you knew of any lyme experts in Cyprus?? Nobody here seems to know much about the disease, except my vet as he has plenty of dogs here who suffer with lyme.
At the moment I feel like I am swimming in this vast ocean of lime with no plan and I need to make myself more knowledgeable quickly.
My only hope is that my new doctor will do some research into the disease as she promised. As well as being a general doctor she performs ozone, homeopahy and bioresonance so I thought i may have some hope. She also trained in Germany and still has connections with German Doctors and I believe they understand lyme.
Thankyou for listening and opening up your forum to all nationalities. I did try the U.K but unless you lived there they wouldn't reply. I am so grateful for this website.
