My Igenex Results - IgM Positive, IgG Negative

My GP appointment went really well today. She glanced at it and saw the Igenex positive, and said ok, what do you want to do? She told me about a patient she had that tested positive and went on Zithromax and Mepron and 90 days later was better. This was after trying other Lyme antibiotics.
She said he went to the ND here in our city and that ND spoke to the retired LLMD that is still active in the Lyme community - doing seminars, teaching ND's, etc. and he advised her on how to treat him.
So, I told her I didn't want to go on the Mepron yet, as that is for Babesia, but I would like Doxycycline 200 mg X twice daily. She said "ok - do you want 14, 21 or 28 days.?" I took 28 days.
I know it's going to be longer treatment, but that will get me started. I told her about the LLND in Richmond, BC that I will go to, and she is totally supportive.
She couldn't believe that I had to jump through hoops to get my results from the other ND that I don't plan on seeing anymore.

I am happy that I got the positive...as it validates what I've been thinking for many months.

Hoping someone with more knowledge than myself will comment.

IgM - Positive - can that just mean an active infection? Because I have had symptoms for many months. So, it's definitely not a new infection.

I am IgG negative - since I've had symptoms for a while, shouldn't this be the one that shows up positive?

I'm happy that you received your results without too much grievance.

The IgM antibodies indicate an active infection. I still don't necessarily how to interpret everything because I had a tick bite 5 years before I became very ill - my Igenex test had no IgG bands but many IgM-similar to yours.

I can tell you after treatment I feel fine. Try to focus on the treatment now and not worry too much about the test results.

Your results are a fairly strong positive for an active infection. Perhaps not by the CDC but who pays attention to them now anyway.
