My implants will be out of titanium - less chance of a reaction from what I understand, and I'm only going through this once!!!
Nope, I never had periodontal disease - my teeth just fell apart! I had fillings - mercury ones of course, since I was a very young child. Even though I was really pretty good about
brushing and not eating a bunch of sweets, I got tons of cavities, teeth that would just break and abscessed teeth. I have to assume it was due to the Lyme disease and a lowered immune system as Lyme can attack the teeth.
My dentist and I believe that the bone loss is partly due to the fact that I clench my teeth as well though. This can be due to Lyme....and intestinal food allergies.
Camogirl, if you are going to get dentures (best thing I did!!) I would suggest getting implants now or at least check into it - before you have much bone loss. I wish someone had told me this back when I got my dentures - although I didn't even know I had Lyme back then!!
