Bleach isn't the best cleaner for mold. It really depends on the mold and the surface needing to be cleaned which cleaner is best.
Reduce humidity to below 55% in the area where you smell mold, if at all possible.
Also, a mask is good, but make sure it is a good, snug-fitting mask and not just one of those wimpy paper earloop masks...
If you have an essential oils diffuser, you can set that up in the garage and diffuse Tea Tree oil, Thieves oil (blend of cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary), Purification oil (blend of citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca, lavandin, and myrtle), Lemongrass oil, or Thyme oil.
Diffusing antifungal essential oils is what helped me when I could smell mold in my kitchen & bedroom but could not identify the source.
