Hello All,
I googled "heavy leg" last night and before I could even finish typing the thread "heavy leg lyme" came up from your forum. I stayed on here for hours, astounded at the similarity in symptoms I've had my whole life! I just came from yet another doctor's office yesterday, dismayed by her poo-poohing of my suggestion that perhaps I have Lyme disease, as that's the only thing I HAVEN'T been tested for over all these years. The only reason it crossed my mind was because I could recognize my symptoms when watching Yolanda's exhaustion on The Real Housewives. The doctor yesterday was curt but still added it to the list of 100 tests she's going to run my blood through. I am concerned that perhaps it won't be the full gamut of Lyme tests that I need. Any advice?
I have found a neurologist that takes my insurance and specializes in Lyme, but won't get in to see her for 3 weeks. I have been sick as a dog with unbearable nausea that is worsened because I can't vomit, can't get any relief. I have felt like I have a really bad hangover that last about 3 days, then I get a day of reprieve, then another "hangover". I had 9 months of morning sickness that felt just like this, like I wanted to die, yet could not vomit for relief. In the least 4 years I have felt this "morning sickness" every couple of months for a week or 10 days at a time. My doctors ran every test but nothing, of course. What confused them more is that I've always eaten organic, run miles and do pilates, and have excessive energy/insomnia at night my whole life. This doesn't match with debilitating exhaustion during the day if I can get up and run at sunset. I've spent the last 4 days and nights glued to my couch. Finally, a 1-mile jog and walk last night is the only thing that kicked the nausea and I am finally feeling somewhat better today.
Just this month I've begun to feel a strange weight in my legs--it feels like I have magnets in my feet and a very heavy weight behind my knees, both pulling me into the floor as if it is magnetized as well. This strange symptom led me to your site, and now I believe I have explanations for the "sun stroke" that laid me out for hours as a kid after exercising or playing with friends, high school crackling knees that would buckle under me during basketball practice, rolling out of bed in stiff stages at 16 like an 80-year old lady, daily headaches from 14-28 years old, the complete exhaustion throughout my entire 20s that made me crawl back into bed 10 minutes after having my morning coffee, and the current "morning sickness/hangover" feeling of my thirties. I have been worried in the last year about tingling and weakness in my fingers and hand/grasp, as well as the recent inability to recall words or what I was thinking, and twitching in my eyes and lips.
I now have a possible reason why I have ALWAYS had a bad memory, can't match faces or names with people who seem familiar, and can't remember exciting events from 6 months ago. And wouldn't you know it, I just remembered YESTERDAY that I was bitten by a tick in SECOND GRADE. My results aren't back yet, but this is the most sure I've felt about any possible diagnosis in a long long time. I'm NOT a hypochondriac!!! THANK YOU!!!
