I have been using cannabutter for about 5 weeks and am seeing improvement....joint pain is gone, sleep improved, fatigue is better, depression is gone. I joined a facebook group called Cannabis for Lyme and decided after reading about the success that people were having that I needed to try it. I had been using Cowden for about 8 months and while it helped, everytime I pulsed the herbs for 36 hours my symptoms would flare and I would get more joint damage. I got a prescription for medical marijuana from my doctor and made cannabutter with the cannabis. I take about 1/8 to 1/4 tsp 3 times a day. With such a small dose I don't get the high from it. Cannabis has been proven to kill MSRA and it is also anti-inflammatory. I have been dealing with Lyme for about a year and a half and it has been hell. I just wanted to let people know that I found something that is helping me. Best wishes!

I it supposed to actually treat and cure the lyme or just help the person feel better with the symptoms?

dmw52 - ditto what Kate asked - is it symptomatic relief...or actually treating the lyme/co's?

Cannabis has antibiotic properties, so it is supposed to treat Lyme, not just symptoms. It does cause herxing. I took Cannabis with Cowden for three weeks but the herxing from both got to be too much, so I stopped Cowden which I had been on for 8 months. I don't feel full of inflammation like I did before I started it.

There is actually a woman on youtube who cured her Lyme with the concentrated "Rick Simpson Oil" which is an oil concentrate of the cannabinoids.  

I think I've actually read of a few reports of people curing their Lyme with cannabinoids.  Many plants, trees, or herbs have anti-microbial properties... And cannabis just happens to be another one of them. 

The only downside of using cannabis to me is i wouldn't be able to pass my drug test... Cure Lyme, but fail my drug test and lose my job.  Hmm tough decision.

Lymepickle - even if it's for medical reasons? - Doctor's note?

You don't get high from the cannabutter, do you? I know there is a form of cannabis that you can get medically that you don't get high from.
Can't imagine walking around "high" all the time..or going back to work and trying to function.

Girlie, you don't get high from the cannabutter if you use a small amount but it you take too much, you will. You need to gradually increase to avoid the high.

Lymepickle, I don't know how drug testing works with a medical prescription. I was desperate and my doctor knew he had done nothing to help me in the year and a half that I was miserable, so he didn't try to talk me out of the prescription when I asked for it. Some people are using the RSO but it is much stronger and the herxing is severe.

I'm in a state where it's only legal for children with a very specific type of epilepsy, so there is nothing I can do.

I live in Oregon and I can get some legally. I am wondering if it would help my husband with Neuro Lyme. It would be great if it helped with his ALS symptoms. Don't they prescribe medical marijuana only when people are suffering with pain?

Cat53, I found this info re: AlS and cannabis......A number of studies have shown that cannabis functions in many ways that are beneficial to those with ALS, from serving as an analgesic to acting as a soothing muscle relaxant. Cannabis also functions as a saliva reducer, and so it has the ability to reduce symptoms of uncontrollable drooling that is common among those with ALS. Additionally, cannabis has been found successful in use as an antidepressant, results which have also been confirmed by an anonymous, self-reported survey of ALS patients conducted by the the MDA/ALS Center at the University of Washington.

Most importantly, however, is that a 2010 study found that cannabis offered anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects when tested on laboratory mice. The researchers found that cannabis slowed the progression of the disease and prolonged cell survival, ultimately concluding that “it is reasonable to think that cannabis might significantly slow the progression of ALS, potentially extending life expectancy and substantially reducing the overall burden of the disease.”

cannabis with high CBD is the one without the thc to get the 'stoned' feeling.

It works to destroy the lyme/co, and also relieves the symptoms.

My state hasn't gotten on board yet, but i've experienced this once, and it's amazing!

It can heal the lyme/co.

And, very happy for you to have found something to give you relief and further your healing!!! Awesome!!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know... CBD is 100% legal. You don't even need a medical prescription for it. I just ordered a whole bunch of high concentrate CBD tinctures online. They actually ship world wide.

I'm relatively new here (this is my first post), so I hope you don't mind sharing with me where you think is a good place online to purchase CBD.

I have been interested in trying some cannabis for some time and this may be a good way to try. I did a search and found some tincture as you mentioned, but have never bought any or used it.

Hi Tooty. I just ordered mine from Healthy Hemp Oil. Seems to be a good supplier. As you may know... CBD is the compound in cannabis that provides the vast majority of all the medical benefits. It is the compound that is keeping children from having seizures like a strain called 'charlottes web'. CBD is ALSO present in Hemp (Hemp has virtually no THC in it). THC... while also relatively harmless to the body, is what is technically illegal and is what is responsible for the high cannabis brings users. It is interesting though, if you look at the molecule, they are almost identical molecules, there is just one ring in the THC molecule that is 'cut' and rotated. That is the only visible difference I have seen. Anyhow, for legal CBD extracts... Suppliers are generally using Hemp extracts, and then separating the THC (small amounts) from the CBD. They just have concentrated CBD left.

I am sorry, but I'm not an expert in ordering CBD... And I placed my first order! I just took a leap of faith with this purchase and searched through the internet to see the various suppliers, and I just felt like I could trust this source, but we will see when I get the product in the mail.

Search "Healthy Hemp Oil". That will allow you to find the supplier I used.

What you do mean CBD is 100% legal? I would still be careful about the testing!

I was curious and looked it up on the site mentioned by LymePickle and here is what is said for one product:

Traveler-- To be honest I think if you took medicinal or therapeutic levels of CBD. You will test positive on a drug test for THC. I don't know that for sure, but it's a pretty safe assumption I am making since the molecules THC and CBD are almost identical. I am going to try it on myself, I am going to take the CBD and see if I test positive on a drug test that I will do on myself. But CBD doesn't impair people at all... In fact it is like the naltrexone of cannabinoid receptors. It binds the cannabinoid receptor site just like naltrexone binds the opiate receptors. It works as an antagonist rather than an agonist, in that it binds to the receptor but doesn't activate it. This blocks the bodies own natural endorphins (case of naltrexone) or cannabinoids (case of CBD). In turn the body actually compensates to make more endorphins or more cannabinoids. This has therapeutic effects. Also if there are even the tiniest concentrations of THC in the product it will not cause any effects on the persons mental state as there will be more CBD to block the THC from even binding these receptor sites. CBD could also be given to someone who believes they have overdosed from THC, so it helps calm the negative effects. Also it is anti-microbial.

CBD is legal though. If they made it illegal they would have to make hemp seeds illegal and hemp products. (actually was illegal in the united states for some time due to THC). That would be something like making a health food in a health food store illegal. The reason why 'High CBD marijuana' needs medical prescriptions is because it still can have a significant concentration of THC in it. Also high CBD cannabis is a better source of CBD than hemp as it is more concentrated on these types of flowers.

I wish it were legal here I'd sure try it, nothing else has worked.
I have been reading about a couple of cases where it was mailed in to people in my city to people with cancer etc and the people were arrested when they got it from their mailbox. shakehead

Okay I read at another site that cannabinoids are illegal in the United states... But the Cbd kind of falls in a grey area...
