Sometime last week I added Bactrim to my Ammox and Rifampin because I felt the Bart symptoms slowly coming back and feared that Bart was becoming immune to Rifampin.
So I decided to add Bactrim to the mix. Years back I had used Bactrim for stomach infections so I know that I am not allergic to it or sulfa drugs.
So anyways, after about a week of being on Bactrim I began to get these awful headaches and began to feel very sick. It has been almost two weeks now and I continue to have issues.
Thinking back, I think that what happened was that Bactrim actually busted my cysts and what I am suffering is the "mother of all herxs". Like hitting a bees nest with a baseball bat. Seriously, a two week herx?
I went to my PCP yesterday to see if he could help, but instead, he wants to put me on Valium for anxiety (which I don't have) and wants me to get off of antibiotics because he says that a year on antibiotics is enough to kill anything that I may have had, if I had anything to begin with (his words).
So what do you think? I know that I am loaded with cysts because Ammox doesn't touch them and so by now I must have a ton of them. That would explain my severe symptoms if they all got busted at once. about six months ago before Rifampin I had added bactrim but felt worse on it so I got off. Maybe the same thing happened to me back then? I can't remember details.
By the way, I read a post here from someone who had a similar reaction to bactrim. Perhaps the same thing happened to her?
