Hey there, I'm new to this forum...but not to Lyme. I grew up around Lyme Ct and I am all too familiar with the damage it causes to families and lack of proper treatment for the public. My first husband was a hunter and would come home and drop his hunting clothes wherever he felt like (covered in deer ticks). I would tell him to securely bag them until he was ready to wash, but he rarely listened. Around 1998 I became very ill with about 5 different infections all at once, plus I was nursing my second child. I felt like I was going to die. I went to a local dr, who, in a condescending tone, told me that I was just a stressed out mom! A few years of suffering later I found a dr who finally put me on antibiotics for 7 mos. But, by this time my symptoms wouldn't go away. My son that I had nursed at the time I got sick, had chronic ear infections and was very sickly. By the time he was about 4, he had developed swollen arthritis in his knees and tested positive for Lyme and Mononucleosis. He was put on antibiotics for 28 days. When he was 16, he got Mono again...Hhmmm. I have been living with Chronic Lyme for a long time now. Recently, my symptoms have gotten a lot worse. Besides the regular stuff, I now have double vision & cognitive issues. Anyone else have vision problems? Lazy eye? I'm going to a Lyme specialist in Georgia next week (which will be very expensive). I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for listening to me ramble. ;)
