I'm assuming that after having a salt bath, that I should not use any moisturizer on my skin otherwise I would be defeating the purpose? How much time do I leave my skin 'breathe' before I can moisturizer?

I would recommend taking the salt bath first, and then adding some bentonite clay and/or powdered zeolite to the water.
I probably wouldn't use moisturizer after the bath, but the next day.

I use lotion but I make my own with coconut oil, olive oil, cocoa butter all organic.
